Lyme disease – the disease pathogen is a parasite borrelii, the disease is characterized mainly by damage to the skin, this disease adversely affects the nervous system, affecting the heart and musculoskeletal system. In addition, the disease has a predilection for long period movements.

Lyme disease occurs most frequently in the age of the teenager up to 15 years and then in adult life, from 25 to 45 years.

The source of the illness is possible to recognize most species of animals, both wild and domesticated. Because of the fact that the disease may be in the grip, so it spreads easily in the spring and summer. Transmits Lyme disease in the majority of cases, through the blood, however, there are documented cases of transmission via raw milk.

Important! The body is not able to develop a strong immunity to disease, so relapse is possible after a few years after the first infection and successful treatment.

As we have already pointed out, most often, the infection occurs in the spring and summer that caused a major risk factor – mites and their breeding period and increased activity.

The manifestation of the disease, symptoms, stages

On average, the incubation period of the disease lasts 10-12 days but may be 24 hours and for almost two months, it all depends on the immune status of the person. To share the development of the disease can be divided into three conditional stages:

  • First,

    • The second stage may occur weeks or even months, but in 10-15% of patients. It requires no treatment.

    In the second stage, the disease affects the nervous system and the cardiovascular system, resulting in heart palpitations sometimes the appearance of pain in the heart. Skin rashes are more like a manifestation of urticaria.

    Important! Lesion may affect other organs, for example eyes, kidneys, liver, develops on the background of Lyme disease in the second stage, and bronchitis

    If cerebrospinal fluid is observed changes, the therapy offers:

    • Ceftriaxone 2 g 1 p/day.
    • Cefotaxime 2 g every 8 h.
    • benzylpenicillin (sodium salt) 20-24 million IU/day.

    The third stage is to use Doxycycline at 100 mg 2 p/day or amoxicillin 500 mg 3 R/day orally for 4 weeks.

    Important! Timely diagnosis of the disease and initiation of treatment allows to avoid the transition of Lyme disease in the next stage.

    If you ignore the disease, at later stages when damage to the nervous system, the prognosis is often unfavorable.
